Parents need to know that TRYSCIENCE is a great place to find guides to technology, science and nature centers, and science experiments. The site is packed with ideas for parents, teachers and older, highly motivated science students to share with other kids. Follow instructions to build a spaghetti bridge to learn which shapes withstand more force; or learn how salt in the soil affects seed growth. It could be a more kid-catching site if there were more online interactive elements. Still, if teachers or parents take the real world field trip advice and experiments to kids, they're likely to have a greater appreciation for the worldwide appeal of science.
You can find lists and guides for science and technology centers in large cities around the world and detailed local science guides for more than 25 U.S. cities. There are many ideas for classroom- or home-based science experiments across all scientific fields that are well-organized and clearly presented. Some site updating is needed, like an announcement for for "National Engineers Week 2008." The site would be greatly enhanced by more kid-friendly text and online interaction.
Online interaction: Kids can leave comments about their experience with various experiments.
Families can talk about why science and technology are important to our daily lives? What are some things that you do or use every day that were made possible by science or technology?
What are some basic safety guidelines about science and technology experimentation? While the experiments on this site all appear safe and well-planned, it's important to review basic safety rules.
