MONONAS features five main characters, the Mononas -- who, according to the site, are "all-American girls with a Latin flavor." The characters emphasize having a positive outlook and self-confidence. However, although the general theme gets a thumbs-up, the site doesn't really offer all that much to do. You can listen to or download a few original songs with a self-empowerment theme; you can also upload your own song (although it doesn't appear any users have yet). The site also features a matching game and simple dress-up game and functionality that lets you create a Mononas-like avatar for your profile. The interactive blog section, which has just over a dozen posts and only a few comments, doesn't offer much more content. However, there is hope for Mononas: The characters' profiles say they'll be starting to write regular diary entries soon -- which would at least offer users more to read.
Online interaction: Users can view each other's profiles, which don't contain any contact information, but aside from commenting on posts other users have made in the Let's Talk section, interaction is minimal.
What is self-confidence? Why is it important? What things can you do to believe in yourself and feel good about yourself?
What are some of the advantage of being able to express your opinion -- such as being open and honest with friends and your family? And what are some of the risks/potential problems that could occur when you do it online on a chat board or on a site's comments section? What kind of things are OK to say, and what kind of things aren't?
How can you help your friends and other people you know at school to be more self-confident? What kinds of things, like teasing, might make people feel less confident?
