Is it any good?
The CHRONICLES OF NARNIA: THE VOYAGE OF THE DAWN TREADER site offers more activities than many film-focused fan sites -- sure, there's plenty of plugs to see the movie (many sections include the option to view the trailer) and information about the characters and plot, but kids can also travel around the virtual world, learning Narnia facts and playing sword training and other games.
The design is also impressive: Ocean waves swirl at the bottom of the screen, and epic music plays as you click around the graphically elaborate site. Generally, the seafaring journey kids take on the site is a safe one: They can't chat with each other, and there isn't much stuff that might be too scary for younger kids. The site's only potential problem is its frequent pushes to Facebook -- users are encouraged to discuss riddles and other topics on the social networking site. However, most posts on the film's page are clean and just center around fans' excitement about the movie.
Online interaction: The site doesn't offer chatting or other direct interactions, but some of the activities have a link to Facebook where fans can connect with others for discussions via the social networking site.
What families can talk about
Families can talk about whether this site is fun to look at without seeing the movie. Are sites that are trying to sell you something -- whether it's a product or a movie ticket -- any less fun if you don't buy what's for sale?

This is a pretty fun website. Obviously created to promote VDT, it does it's job well.
If one signs up, one can design a boat, and then sail that boat around the islands that the Dawn Treader went to, and collect daily treasures. The different islands contain wallpapers, info, games, and hidden items for points. The more points you get, the bigger your ship is until finally you are sailing the Dawn Treader itself. It's pretty fun, especially with mini games featuring the mouse Reepicheep, creating your own dragon, and the like. One of the best movie sites I've ever been on.
