What parents need to know

Parents need to know that while "Someone Like You" is a sad song that laments lost love, it doesn't include iffy content like profanity, sex, substance use, or violence. Moreover, the track takes a generally positive approach to moving on after a break-up while remembering the good times. Overall, it's an age-appropriate choice for older tweens and teens.

  • The song has a melancholy but generally positive message about recovering from a broken heart and not wishing ill on a former flame: "I'll find someone like you ... I wish nothing but the best for you, too."
  • The song advocates forgiveness over bitterness and encourages listeners to keep a positive outlook on life.

What's the story?

Powerhouse vocalist Adele sings about lost love in "SOMEONE LIKE YOU," her ode to moving on from a former flame. Though it's a bit melancholy in parts, the song also has a positive perspective on picking up the pieces after a break-up and not holding a grudge against someone who has hurt you.

Is it any good?

Adele's soulful tone is ideally suited for this song about losing someone you love. Her effortless vocals combine with beautiful piano arrangements to result in a track that sticks with you long after it's over.

any age can listen
I think any age can listen to this song, but unless u have truly had a broken heart u wouldnt be able to understand it. I take voice lessons and i suggested this song to my voice singer for me to sing but she thought it was not quite age apropriate. I think it is. Any age can listen to this song.

Nice single from Adele
At first when I heard this song I thought it was okay, but it grew on me. Adele has a nice voice. No innapropriate content, but I think that teens will understand the lyrics more than kids (like Taylor Swift songs).

Great!!!!!!!!!
This song is about accepting that the person you love has already moved on. It has no inappropriate references, so I would say children 9 and up could listen to this music.

Completely Clean Sad Song with Good Message!
My title says it all. I am a dance/ techno song lover but I still love this song. Even my little sister, who absoulutley hates slow songs likes this one (she's eight.) Not off for any age but I don't think kids younger than eight will like this. I love this song and Rolling in the Deep, also by Adele (a really great singer!)
