Parents need to know that the song "Doing Shots on the Hood of My Car" is true to its title -- describing people who spend the evening hanging out on a car hood, getting drunk. Though this track doesn't include the violence or profanity that typically appear in Ke$ha's many other tunes about drinking, the alcohol theme is as pervasive as ever. Parents who allow teens to download the tune will want to discuss the real-life consequences of drinking in this manner.
"DOING SHOTS ON THE HOOD OF MY CAR" is another single from party girl Ke$ha that features one of her all-too-common themes: getting drunk. Worse, the singer describes driving around with her friends first, then parking in a far-away place (the Hollywood sign), where they proceed to drink shots and, presumably, drive back home. Though the drunk kids don't destroy property or engage in other belligerent behavior like they often do in Ke$ha songs, the entire premise of mixing cars and alcohol is seriously bad news, especially for impressionable young tweens and teens.
While there's something to be said for sticking with a tried-and-true musical style, Ke$ha's definitely wrung the life out of hers. Once you get past its spacy electro-pop intro, this song sounds a lot like the Ke$ha hits that came before it. We liked the quirky sound in "Tik Tok" -- which was about a dozen songs ago. At this point, it's just played out.
Families can talk about the consequences of drinking to excess. Do songs such as this one glamorize binge drinking?

Why do you think Ke$ha continues to put out music that celebrates partying and drinking? Would she still be popular if she sang about other topics?
