What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this album features songs from the hit Disney show Shake It Up, as well as a DVD with instructional dance moves. It's mostly about letting loose and having fun, both on and off the dance floor, and doesn't have any strong language or iffy content. The soundtrack includes big-name stars like Selena Gomez, Drew Seely, and Adam Hicks, so there's even more of a reason for your tweens to want it.

  • Meant to entertain rather than educate.
  • "Watch Me" is a positive song about being yourself and having fun. Most of the songs are about friends, relationships, and having a good time and are age-appropriate for kids.
  • Cece and Rocky are all about being themselves and being there for each other no matter what. And the show and its songs certainly encourage fans to get up and dance!
  • Not applicable.

What's the story?

Fans of Rocky (Zendaya) and CeCe Jones (Bella Thorne), the loveable dancin' BFFs from the hit Disney Channel show Shake It Up, will love the soundtrack SHAKE IT UP: BREAK IT DOWN, which features 14 tracks from the show, including the theme song sung by Selena Gomez, as well as the single "Watch Me", performed by Thorne and Zendaya. As a bonus, fans can shake it like Rocky and Cece with the DVD combo that includes step-by-step instruction to five songs.

Is it any good?

Shake It Up is pretty much like any other Disney Channel show, with young, over-accessorized teens battling daily dilemmas about parents and school. But it does focus on something everyone can relate to -- friendship and dancing.

The music on the soundtrack is loaded with synth-pop club mixes that are perfect for dancing around the house or out with friends, and with the DVD of dance instruction, now even a novice can feel like a superstar on the dance floor.

What families can talk about

  • Families can talk about how Disney has not only produced countless hit TV shows but also created successful music and musicians. Do you think this is just a way to get fans to buy more products? Or are these Disney stars really just that talented?

  • When albums come with bonus features, such as a DVD, does it make you more likely to buy that product?

ATTENTION PARENTS
Stupid show. Nothing educational. and very pointless. The stars cant even dance. They are simple moves everyone can do. The stars are horrible actresses and shuldnt be famous. Cece is such a bad role model. she teaches that fashion and looks are better than school and brains. rocky is the better role modle showing school is a way to success. dont bother buying the expensive horrible soundtrack

Hilarious.
So let me get this straight... Bella Thorne and Zendaya apparently call a robot move fail, clunking their legs, swaying their hips, and putting their arms in the air like their trying to put a shirt on, dancing, and they decide to make a little CD that teaches kids their dance moves. Man, that's funnier than all their attempts at "jokes" on their show. That's just sad that Disney channel thinks that this show is more popular than America's Got Talent.

=^_^= luv it
honestly i really like this cd, especially when i'm upset. The song Just Wanna Dance does hint at romance but they used it at my cousin's quinceanera for the salsa dance. Roll the dice does imply gambling, but its a kids show!!! So if a 5 year old is listening dont play roll the dice
