What parents need to know

Parents need to know that "Safe & Sound" follows the typical Taylor Swift approach by including no profanity or mature content beyond one fleeting reference to war. It's the first single from The Hunger Games Soundtrack, and may interest kids who are fans of the book or movie. With a supportive message about protecting someone you love, it's yet another solid, kid-friendly song by the country superstar.

  • This track includes a positive message about being there for someone you care about.

  • Song encourages listeners to support the people they love.

  • One line about war: "Everything's on fire, the war outside our door keeps raging on."

  • Not applicable.

What's the story?

"SAFE & SOUND" is the first single off the soundtrack for the film The Hunger Games, the initial installment in the uber-popular young adult book series. Sung by country star Taylor Swift, the ballad includes a lot of what Swift is known for: very clean lyrics that describe a strong relationship in which one person demonstrates support for the other.

Is it any good?

Folk duo The Civil Wars gives a guest performance in this hauntingly beautiful ballad, featuring beautiful harmonies and Swift singing at her best. The mature sound definitely suits her, perhaps providing a glimpse into a bright future for the soon-to-be-a-grownup star.

Beautiful!
Although Taylor Swift is a major guilty pleasure for me, when I heard this song for the first time I thought it wasn't a Taylor Swift song. That's great! I love how mature she sounds on this song, and her voice is beautiful. And of course, this is on the soundtrack of a movie based off one of my favorite books, so there's that. It sounds like it was written for the movie, but could fit a number of situations, which is good as well.Props to Taylor for making an awesome song for an awesome movie.

amazing and deep!
This is one of my favorite songs. Its deep and emotional. It reminds me of the hunger games. Either about katniss and peeta or katniss and prim. Listen to this song and you will love it. Unless you hate soft songs.
