What parents need to know

Parents need to know that "Monster" is an overall positive tune about someone who's survived a hurtful relationship and vows to regain her hopeful outlook on life. The song lacks profanity and graphic references to substance use, sex, or violence -- making it a good choice for younger rock fans.

What's the story?

The single "MONSTER" is the contribution from alt-rock band Paramore to the Transformers: Dark of the Moon movie soundtrack. It's a clean tune told from the positive point of view of someone emerging from the depths of a bad breakup. Lacking profanity or graphic references to mature topics like drinking and sex, these lyrics revolve around getting back on your feet when you've been knocked down: "You were my conscience, so solid, now you're like water ... I let my heart go, it's somewhere down at the bottom / But I'll get a new one and come back for the hope that you've stolen." Overall, the track is a fine pick for younger kids who like to rock.

Is it any good?

Despite the departure of two of its founding members, Paramore continues to hit the mark with this single. Lead singer Hayley Williams gives another solid performance, and the track's basic yet catchy guitar hook packs an appealing punch.

Awesome and clean. LISTEN TO THIS SONG.
I love this song!!!!!!!!!! It has nothing bad in it whatsoever, and it encourages you to get up after you've been knocked down!

Another clean yet awesome song from Paramore
Awesome song, as is usual from Paramore. Williams's voice is amazing and without her, Paramore could've been just another emo-pop band, but she puts in an extra punch. The song is perfectly clean, however, I believe the song is more about the leaving of the Farro brothers (you seem to be doing just fine without them, Paramore!) rather than a romantic breakup. So while clean, the song is for older tweens who can understand the disappointment from Williams. Great track, can't wait 'til their next album!

Another clean yet awesome tune from Paramore.
This emo-pop song, while also being extremely catchy, also has lots of good messages. Hayley Williams is a fantastic role model, encouraging children to be different, get up when you've been knocked down, and plenty of other messages!

Good song, Okay for kids.
Very good song. I see no problem with kids listening to this, but parents may want to listen to it first. Some parts do seem sad, but there is no swearing, drugs, sex, or violence. It's about standing up for what you believe in, and helping the world.

Go die Paramore!
Ugh,this band is just plain gay! Why are they so popular? The covers of the songs look good but the rythm is just ANNOYING!

Not A Break-Up Song
Paramore are known for creating extremely catchy tunes that anyone can enjoy, and they deliver the same here. Just like most Paramore songs, this one contains no profanity, violence, sex references, etc. Parents and teenagers can rock out to this song while not worrying about kids nearby-- it's clean! P.S. I would just like to note that this is NOT a break-up song. Some people may take it that way, but the band actually wrote it over the loss of two band members. This song showcases their will to go on and continue to do what they love despite a lot of controversy. Not. A. Breakup. Song. Paramore don't write a lot of those... :)
