What parents need to know

Parents need to know that this is the soundtrack for the Disney Channel original movie of the same name. It features current "It" Disney girl Bridgit Mendler of the popular Disney show Good Luck Charlie and Adam Hicks of Zeke and Luther. The music is fresh, hip, uplifting, and, best of all, appropriate for kids of all ages.

  • Typical positive Disney messages about living your dreams and being yourself, as well as the importance of art, friendship, and strength.
  • Young kids express themselves through music and live out their dreams.

What's the story?

The Disney Channel original movie Lemonade Mouth is about a group of high school students who meet in detention and form a band to express themselves; through music, they show the importance of creativity, friendship, and being yourself. The soundtrack features 10 tracks sung by funny girl Bridgit Mendler of the popular Disney show Good Luck Charlie, as well as Zeke and Luther's Adam Hicks and the rest of the Lemonade Mouth cast: Blake Michael, Hayley Kiyoko, and Naomi Scott.

Is it any good?

The music of Lemonade Mouth is a sweet concoction that's a refreshing break from the usual Disney cookie-cutter pop. The songs range from those reminiscent of '90s bands The Red Hot Chili Peppers ("And the Band Goes," "Don't Ya Wish U Were Us?") and B52s ("Here We Go") to more mainstream synth-pop and folk-rock tunes like "Somebody" and "More Than a Band."

Despite the diverse sounds, the songs are all equally entertaining and infectious. The music and vocals are solid; Mendler and Hicks are sure to become Disney's next big stars. The songs include positive messages that let kids know it's OK to "raise your voice and let the world know it's wrong" and show that everyone deserves to be the person they want to be.

What families can talk about

  • Families can talk about the messages here. Are there any lyrics that stand out to you more than others? Do you think there's a need for more positive music for young kids and teens?

  • Mendler is yet another singer and actor from a popular TV show who's now headlining a Disney soundtrack. Do you think this makes the album more likely to sell?

Future Demi
This is just another Disney star who wants to sing. Reality is all of the actresses they push into music aren't going to be as popular as the only three that actually are respected as real Music artists: Miley Cryus, Demi Lovato, and Selena Gomez. And I think this Bridget girl is who Disney is going to make Demi Lovato's replacement after her rehab visit. That's just my option. :)

Mudslide Crush's Songs Bring the Overall Appeal Down
All the songs by Lemonade Mouth are good. All the Mudslide Crush songs are bad. Mudslide Crush's songs are horrible and suggest angry things. Lemonade Mouth's songs are beautiful and diverse. They shine the spotlight on all different types of voices, not just the Disney norm. Putting these songs and the fantastic Lemonade Mouth songs together creates a very good album, and unfortunately, nothing more.

No concerns at all. I'm a kid (11 yrs.). It's awesome to find a movie that's both great & appropriate at the same time. I got many good messages from this movie, it was so inspirational.

Good Soundtrack Moral-Wise...
This soundtrack bursts with fun tunes and the typical Disney motto: "Believe in yourself". Good for ages 9 and up, though teens may not enjoy it as much as tweens. My only complaint is that this soundtrack is nothing new from Disney. Kind of same old dancy music and loud singing. But its all good, especially if your kid enjoys it.
