What parents need to know

Parents need to know that "Hit the Lights" is an uplifting single about taking life by the horns. Though it includes a line about "losing control," the context is to let go of the fears you may have about following your dreams. With no profanity or adult content aside from one muted reference to drinking ("raise your glass"), the song is an especially positive, motivational pick for younger tweens and teens who are feeling insecure.

What's the story?

"HIT THE LIGHTS" is the third single from When the Sun Goes Down, the third full-length album from Wizards of Waverly Place star Selena Gomez. In this uplifting track, Gomez encourages listeners to let go of their inhibitions and seize opportunities whenever they arise.

Is it any good?

Selena Gomez fans will find more of what they love in "Hit the Lights," a synth-pop song that sounds pretty similar to many of her previous hits. Though Gomez doesn't have near the vocal chops of her powerhouse boyfriend, Justin Bieber, she still manages to give a solid enough performance to pull this tune off.

Hit The Lights
I think Selena is a good role model. The song is pretty good. I guess Disney didn't catch it, but if you think about it, it's better then some of the other words.

So-so song with good messages, language the site didn't catch
If you listen to this song on Radio Disney, it is on for ages 7 and up and the Common Sense Media review fits it just fine. But if you listen to the version that is on her album, her music video, etc., it says "you're too d**n scared to fly". Common Sense Media didn't catch that.

No language? OH PLEASE!!!
There is language in this song. The song mentions "d-mn" twice. The Radio Disney version is clean, but the normal version isn't. Also, one use of "screw(ed)"
