What parents need to know

Parents need to know that "Give a Little" is a pretty harmless track that describes a couple in the initial stages of flirtation. While it includes some mildly suggestive lines, like "make her blush when you put your hand on her hips," the lyrics are still tame compared to many of the pop songs out there. With no explicit language or other mature content, this tune is an acceptable pick for the younger set.

  • Messages about romantic flirtation aren't necessarily positive or negative, just a straightforward recap of young love.
  • No overwhelmingly good or bad role model behavior here, only two people engaged in some fairly innocent romance.
  • Not applicable.
  • A couple of suggestive lines, like "wrap your arms around her body."

What's the story?

"GIVE A LITTLE" is the new single by Hanson, a singing group of three brothers who are now all grown up but once were as popular as the JoBros, back in the day. This tune is a bit sexier than their previous songs, with a couple of steamier lyrics like "wrap your arms around her body." That said, there is still no profanity or graphic adult content of any kind here, making this song an OK choice for younger ears.

Is it any good?

They may have aged, but the Hanson brothers still have it. The vocals are a bit deeper but still solid, and the upbeat arrangement, complete with horns and a reggae-like tone, makes this a great pick for anyone who just wants some good music to accompany their fun.

What families can talk about

  • Families can talk about how Hanson compares to newer boy bands like the Jonas Brothers.

  • What are some similarities and differences in the lyrics of these two
acts, despite the fact that they've hit their peaks at different times?

  • All of the Hanson brothers married very young, as did Kevin Jonas. What
are the ups and downs involved in getting married at a young age?
