Parents need to know that the album Fastlife finds Joe Jonas demonstrating a bit more maturity than in the squeaky-clean JoBros releases that came before. While there are a few adult allusions to spending the night together and drinking/cigarettes, it's still an overall OK choice for tweens. That said, parents will want to prevent young kids from buying the explicit version of the album, which includes a remix of the track "Just In Love" featuring Lil Wayne and the word "f--k," as well as from watching the super-sexy video for the track that features some girl-guy scenes in the bedroom and bath.
FASTLIFE is the first solo album by Joe Jonas, the middle of the three uber-popular Jonas Brothers. Like so many other young artists his age (Demi Lovato, Miley Cyrus, and more ), Joe has begun to assert his adulthood on this record, getting a hair more mature with a few lyrics about spending the night together, talk of "drinking" and cigarettes, and a racy video for the single "Just In Love" that shows him in the bedroom and bathtub with a girl. The explicit version of the album also includes a duet with Lil Wayne, who uses the word "f--k" once.
Joe Jonas's dance-infused solo album is about 180 degrees different than the rock-leaning solo record from his younger brother, Nick. Yet like his bro, Joe has solid if not spectacular vocal talent and a penchant for producing catchy tunes with plenty of radio appeal.
Families can talk about how artists like Joe Jonas who begin their careers as kids can successfully transition into adult stars. Who can Jonas and other young adults his age look to as role models in this regard?
Extremely successful musicians like Usher and Mariah Carey have become superstars without including explicit content in their songs. What makes their music appealing even though it lacks graphic content?
