Parents need to know that "Don't Stop" has a similar tone to "Pumped Up Kicks," Foster the People's debut hit single: with somewhat obscure lyrics, it describes a kid who initially seems harmless but displays increasingly aggressive behaviors as the song goes on. While the track doesn't contain profanity or mention illegal substances, sex, or other adult topics, the destructive behaviors it describes might not sit well with parents of younger tweens.
The follow-up to their first smash hit "Pumped Up Kicks," "DON'T STOP" is the second track from indie darlings Foster the People. The band's second tune has a similar focus to its first, depicting a young boy with an increasingly aggressive streak who engages in negative acts such as kicking and coloring on walls -- and he says he won't stop until he's "broken every law."
Judging from the lighthearted sound of Foster the People songs like this one, it's hard to tell that the lyrics are somewhat disturbing. The bouncy tone, backed by a clap-and-whistle beat, definitely gets you singing along with the words -- at least until you grasp their meaning.
Families can talk about better ways to express feelings of anger or frustration than through destructive or violent acts. Name three things you love to do that always help to lift your mood, no matter how down or frustrated you're feeling.
