What parents need to know

Parents need to know that "Domino," a song co-written by notoriously steamy pop singer Katy Perry, features some thinly veiled sexual metaphors about dancing. Beyond the sexual references, however, the single offers no profanity or other mature references to substance use or violence. While it's generally out of reach for the youngest tweens, the track is an acceptable pick for older tweens and teens.

  • Some mature messages about late-night dancing in the clubs.
  • Clubbing isn't a bad thing, but it's an activity that's best left for adults.
  • Not applicable.
  • A few sexual metaphors: "We can do this all night / Turn this club, skin tight / Baby, come on pull me like a bass drum."

What's the story?

British pop star Jessie J teams up with American pop princess Katy Perry in "DOMINO," a track that Perry co-wrote about getting down and dirty on the dance floor. While the tune is nowhere near as risque as some of Perry's own releases, it's still a more mature song compared with Jessie J's debut hit single "Price Tag," featuring a few pretty racy lines: "Rock my world into the sunlight / Make this dream the best I've ever known / Dirty dancing in the moonlight / Take me down like I'm a domino."

Is it any good?

After such a refreshingly distinctive and cute debut single, Jessie J's follow up -- which could easily be mistaken for a Katy Perry song -- is somewhat disappointing. From the lyrics to the music, it sounds like Perry in almost every way, which the talented Jessie J doesn't need to do in order to produce a hit song.

Great song, sexual language
Sex: "I'm feeling sexy and free", "We can do this all night / D*mn, this love is skintight / Pull me like a bass drum", "Dirty dancing in the moonlight / Take me down like a domino" and some other sexual lyrics. Profanity: "D*mn, this love is skintight".

i have it stuck in my head "i'm feeling sexy and free, like glitters raining on me, i'd like a shot of pure gold, i'm feeling like to exlplode, i can taste the tension like a cloud of smoke in the air. now i'm breathing like i'm running cause your taking me there, dont you know, you spin out of control!" this is the first part lyrics

Kinda not what I expect from Jessie J
But I like the catchiness of the tune better than "Price Tag". All songs I know from Jessie were positive messaged. Now here we are, her new single "Domino". With a few sexual words with the use of d***. Overall, it's still a good song that maybe older tweens might enjoy.

Jessie, where are you?
I think this song is OK, but Jessie J has changed. I loved "Who You Are" & "Who's Laughing Now"...but this is too clubby for our Jessie. Yes, sure, it has a few "naughty words" but, overall, it's an OK song. But it sounds nothing like Katy Perry - surely you can see that!

amazing song!
I love it but it wouldn't really appeal to younger children than me. I also heard the word 'sexy' but it isn't that bad.

The lovely Jessie J produces another hit! :)
Jessie J has really blown up recently, and for good reason too. Starting with "Price Tag" and now "Domino" this lovely lady is quickly climbing the charts to success! True there are a couple references, but only those who are looking for them will really care about them. I love the little finger thing she does in the video when she sings "I think I'm about to explode!" This dance tune is one you should definitely listen to.
