Parents need to know that "In the Dark" is loaded with sexual messages, including some pretty descriptive lines about getting down and dirty in the bedroom. While the track doesn't contain profanity or other mature content, the sexual references alone are enough to put it beyond the reach of younger kids.
Internet sensation Dev (short for Devin Star Tailes) describes some pretty hot and heavy sexual situations in "IN THE DARK," a single from her forthcoming first album The Night the Sun Came Up. With lines like "open my body up and do some surgery" and "I got a sex drive, just push to start," this tune is clearly about one thing.
The trouble with calling yourself a singer is that you actually have to pack a vocal punch -- which Dev doesn't. Though she goes for a Feist-type vibe, Dev lacks the smooth, silky tone that makes Feist a stand-out. The song's unoriginal dance-pop hook doesn't help matters much, either.
Families can talk about whether up and coming singers like Dev need to focus on sex in their songs to be noticed. Are there other topics that are as attention-getting?
Does Dev's emphasis on sex in this song make her seem cool? Why or why not?
