What's the story?

Classical piano masterpieces of Mozart, Chopin, Debussy, Brahms, and Scott Joplin come to life with kid-friendly, tummy-tickling lyrics in BEETHOVEN'S WIG: SING ALONG PIANO CLASSICS, the fifth album from the celebrated and four-time Grammy nominated Beethoven's Wig series. Parents and children will get a kick out of listening to familiar classics in a new light.

Is it any good?

In Beethoven's Wig: Sing Along Piano Classics, kids get a lesson in classical music that is anything but boring. With funny lyrics set perfectly to the piano masterpieces, you can sing about "Poor Uncle Joe" and his broken-down truck to the tune of Chopin's "Funeral March" or croon about an oversized piano that gets stuck in a door to the music of Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer." The tune "Mozart Makes Kids Smart" quips that when kids hear Mozart "it never fails, they go to Harvard or Yale." The CD also comes with an illustrated book that includes lyrics, comprehensive program notes, and historical information, so parents, beware: Harvard might come calling sooner than you think.

What families can talk about

  • Families can talk about the idea of putting words to legendary classical tunes. Do you think it makes the music better or more memorable? Why?

  • Does this music make you more interested in learning about composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Scott Joplin, or Brahms? Which songs do you like the best? Why? Is it the music, lyrics, or both?
