What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Happy Feet Two: Erik's Adventure is an interactive storybook based on the movie. There's some sort of interaction on every page of the narrated story, even if it's just tapping the sparkles on a character to include their photo in a chapter-by-chapter photo album that kids can create on the app. The games are really easy, and may not appeal to kids who are much older than the earliest elementary school grades. Younger kids, especially those who are fond of the movie, will likely enjoy the story and games here, as well as the characters and music that they'll recognize from the movie.

  • Very easy to use, with lots of voice instruction. Game motions are similar to other games kids have played, such as a pull back and release-style game in which players slide fish up an ice mountain to shoot into penguin's mouths, tapping the screen to take photos of the characters for a photo album, and other familiar interactions.

Is it any good?

Younger kids who are fans of the movie will really enjoy listening to the story and playing the games on HAPPY FEET TWO: ERIK'S ADVENTURE. But kids who aren't so into the movie or who are even slightly too old for this app may find the longer-than-usual storybook, the movie-related background music and the verbal cues on the games ("You'll get it. I know you will!" spoken over and over in a loud character voice) annoying. The interactivity on this storybook app is high and the visual elements are beautifully done. As long as your kid is a fan of Erik and isn't too old to be bothered by the sometimes over-the-top audio, this app will be fun for at least a couple of play sessions.
