Parents need to know that Geomaster is a set of world geography quizzes with manageable privacy options and a few errors, such as including Puerto Rico and Mexico in the category of South American countries. Kids can test their knowledge of world countries and flags, French departments, and U.S. states and cities. Games are scored in a variety of ways, and there is a lot of room for learning. Users can share high scores via the Game Center social network, but participation is optional. Kids can play locally or connect through Facebook.
GEOMASTER has some potential, but still needs to get a few facts straight! The real challenge is just that there are other great geography apps (with much better maps) in the App Store. Still, this is a good way to introduce kids to world countries and flags, since the feedback mechanism is really strong, so there are opportunities for learning within the quizzes.
Being able to connect through Facebook makes the game best for older kids, but teens may get bored by the repetitive pace of the game. More significantly, the map is not at a high enough resolution for players to always see or tap the precise location, which can get frustrating. Overall, an OK app to enjoy with a grain of salt.
