Parents need to know that Elmer and the Lost Teddy is a sweet and simple adaptation of the book written and illustrated by David McKee. In the story, Elmer the elephant discovers that another elephant has lost his teddy. Elmer generously offers to loan his teddy out for the night and spend the next day searching for the lost teddy. Elmer encounters many animals on his search, one of whom finally helps him find the teddy by playing a harmless joke. Kids can choose to read the book with or without narration, at their pace or in auto play mode. There are links to more apps and to social media, but these are not immediately available in the main menu.
ELMER AND THE LOST TEDDY has relatively simple features compared to several other in its genre -- kids cannot record their own voices, there is no table of contents, and interactivity is limited to tapping a word or picture to hear it spoken aloud. The professional narration is British, so some of the inflection is a little surprising. Still, the sweet storyline and, moreover, the colorful, creative, and high-quality illustrations make reading this story a really enjoyable experience. Kids will want to read and listen to it and tap on pictures to learn and reinforce words.
