Parents need to know that Jillian Michaels Fitness Adventure is a fitness workout program that combines fantasy settings with real fitness routines. This is an Xbox 360 game that requires the Kinect sensor to play. The workouts can be tailored for individual players by putting in age, gender, weight and height measurements (the game calculates body mass index and displays that information). A large area is needed to play this game because players may be asked to jump or do bridging exercises on the floor and the Kinect camera needs to be able to see both moves.
JILLIAN MICHAELS FITNESS ADVENTURE is a fitness regimen tailored for players that allows for either single exercises, circuits, or the fitness adventure, which is a level-based exercise routine. There are 71 exercises available in fitness training mode. In addition to running one of the 12 included circuits, players can also create their own circuits. Times are recorded and can be uploaded via Xbox LIVE to leaderboards. The Fitness Adventure takes place in a temple, which has 58 levels and each level has four randomly chosen exercises. Players also have access to a fitness calendar to mark progress and view upcoming workouts.
Jillian Michaels Fitness Adventure suffers from the occasional disconnect between the Kinect camera and the player's motions; there is no doubt, however, that there are ample exercises to perform and each one can be demonstrated to the player prior to doing them to ensure that they are being done correctly. The routines can be used without standing in front of the Kinect, and that is a good thing. Of course, anything that gets players moving cannot be that bad; but a weakness with this title is that, after a while, the routines get old and the title loses its appeal. It is a good exercise game to add to a library of others.
