What parents need to know

Parents need to know that Country Dance 2 gets players up and moving as they dance along to some of the most popular modern and classic country songs. Players are scored based on how well they match the movements and patterns on the screen, with the goal of reaching the highest score possible. The game contains more than 30 songs. There are a few fleeting references to alcohol in the lyrics, as well as mild cuss words. But, none of this lyrical content is at all graphic or disturbing in nature, and players will have their attention focused on performing the dance movements instead of trying to listen to every word in the lyrics.

  • Many of the songs in this game have positive messages, with several songs about finding true love, overcoming adversity, and making the most out of life.
  • While there is no real storyline or character development in this game, the featured country music artists can be seen as role models.
  • This game is designed to be accessible by as many players as possible. The point of the game is to get up, move around, and have fun. The challenge comes in trying to get the highest score possible. Players earn points by moving and shaking the controller to match the movements and patterns on the screen.

  • The word "hell" appears in the lyrics to George Strait's "Here for a Good Time"

  • There are a couple references to alcohol in song lyrics: "You'll by my glass of wine, I'll be your shot of whiskey" and "To hell with the red wine, pour me some moonshine."

What's it about?

COUNTRY DANCE 2 lets players dance along to their favorite country songs. Although there are some classic artists featured in the game, the majority of the songs are new and recent chart-toppers. Players perform dance moves by shaking the controller to match the prompts and patterns that appear on the screen, in-time to the beat of the music. The game is more about having fun and listening to the music than it is about earning the highest score possible, as there are no rewards associated with achieving superior scores. Nevertheless, the challenge of performing better every time is enough of a factor to encourage players to play over and over again.

Is it any good?

Although Country Dance 2 is not the best dancing game on the market, it is one of the few that focuses on country songs. Many of the featured tracks are exclusive to this game, making it an easily enjoyable and worthwhile purchase for any country music fan. That said, the controls are sometimes unresponsive and require players to get very familiar with the specific nuances of the dance moves and how they are registered by the game. Because this dancing game focuses on the movement of a controller and not the players themselves, the dancing motion becomes less fluid and clunky at times, but there are also times when it is seamless and well executed. The end result is a game that should delight country music fans of all ages.
